How to remove the “FileBox” button in CustomerHub (Dropdown Theme)

I have had a CustomerHub application for years and for my needs, I have never liked having the FileBox button appear in the Profile link dropdown up in the right corner of the site:

my file box

In my case, I offer a free level of membership in my site and I don’t want information that isn’t available at the free level to be made available via that link.

Can you relate? Not even sure if you have this link? You might want to check it out…

If so, and if you would like to get rid of the FileBox link in your Profile dropdown menu, try this:

  • Log in as an Admin to CustomerHub
  • Click on Settings
  • Click to Customize Theme:

customize

  • Click on the Javascript tab and paste in this:

$(“a[href=’/documents’]”).hide();

So it looks like this:

java

  •  Save and then Preview the site.

I say “try this” because this is actually NOT how I hide FileBox in my app. Because my app is so many years old, the code is different from the newer apps. So, if you have a newer app, and you’re using the Dropdown theme, give this a whirl! Note: I have a 2nd – newer – CustomerHub app and I tested this there and it worked like a charm!

    Hey, Jess.

Great article! We discovered the File Box because some members contacted us about downloading files that they shouldn’t have had access to. Come to find out, there were doing that from the File Box in CustomerHub. When I called tech support, they weren’t very familiar with it. We all got educated very quickly.

This is something every CustomerHub user needs to be aware of because it makes it really easy to access and download the contents of the membership site.

Thanks for this easy tutorial on how to take care of it!

Thanks, Deb! People usually don’t realize it until they are live and someone downloads something they would not otherwise have had access to. Hope this post helps get the word out to tweak the setting BEFORE launch. 🙂
