I just finished listening to Compete to Create: An Approach to Living and Leading Authentically by Michael Gervais and Pete Carroll for the second time. My first listen (it’s only available as an Audible Audiobook) was during the thick of Covid lockdown in 2020 when I walked around for hours on end with not much else to do. I felt inspired to listen again now because I’m studying mental skills training in my graduate school program. If you’re interested in personal development, this audiobook is well worth your time and resources.

There is a fantastic PDF download included (you find it in your Audible library) and it walks you through the main points of the book:

  • Creating a Personal Philosophy
  • Creating a Vision
  • Analyzing what you can/can’t control.
  • Confidence Training
  • Building Trust
  • Sleeping, Eating, and Moving for Wellness

The thing that I love about mental skills training is that it’s so applicable to life – everyone’s life. Whether you have an interest in sport psychology or not, you will find something to relate to and learn in this book.
